Pain is a Warning Sign and Should Not be Ignored
Injuries regularly treated by chiropractors include:
Painkilling drugs may temporarily relieve or mask symptoms but Chiropractors diagnose and treat the real cause of an injury.
Failing to receive the appropriate treatment promptly and continuing to overuse the injured area may prolong the healing process and result in a chronic injury and the shortening of a promising career.
Why Do I Get Injured?
Amateur sports enthusiasts and professional sportsmen and women are all likely to suffer from sports injuries.
Sports injuries can have many causes and your injury will have specific reasons that need to be identified specifically.
Each case is different, it may be the result of poor warm up and stretching techniques, years of poor posture or a previously undetected spine or joint problem. It can be due to unsuitable equipment, overtraining, the wrong training technique
Therefore, here at the Isis Chiropractic Centres we would look at your:
- training programme
- warm up and cool down routines
- functional movement
- dynamic posture
- functional neurology
- joint and spinal function
To identify what is causing your injuries and holding you back from reaching your potential.
Treatment
At the initial consultation at the clinic, the chiropractor takes a full medical history, investigates lifestyle, posture etc., carries out a thorough examination and takes x-rays when necessary. Once the diagnosis is made, a treatment plan is prepared.
Chiropractic treatment includes specific manipulation and adjustment techniques to affect the nervous system, free stiff joints and remove spinal irritation.
We also use modalities such as Low Level Laser Therapy, Ultrasound and Interferential treatment.
Treatment is generally painless, although some short-term discomfort may be felt around the injured area.
Once the pain settles, patients are encouraged to follow a programme of rehabilitation exercises to help strengthen the injured area, improve flexibility and prevent recurrence of the problem.
Chiropractic treatment aims to restore normal function to your joints and muscles as well as your nervous system, which may increase control, co-ordination and muscle strength.
Chiropractic is a course of treatment. The number of treatments required will depend on the nature of the condition and how long it has been present.
