Supraspinatus Tendinopathy
Supraspinatus tendinopathy is a common and crippling condition that becomes more prevalent after middle age. It is one of the most common cause of shoulder pain. Unfortunately it is not a condition that will heal on its own and will almost always need treatment.
The supraspinatus tendon lies in the subacromial space and is a part of the rotator cuff muscles.
Symptoms
- Pain behind the shoulder
- Pain may radiate to the outer part of the arm
- Pain at the front and top of the shoulder
- Pain when rain the arm forward, sideways or above shoulder height
- Burning sensation in the shoulder
Causes
- Overuse
- Impingement of the supraspinatus tendon
- Repetitive overhead activities
Risk Factors
- Common in participants of overhead sports such as handball, volleyball, tennis and baseball
- Overloading during sports
- Age
Treatment:
- Shockwave therapy
- Tecar therapy
- Physical therapy
- Cold therapy
